Job Title: Assistant Quality Manager
Location: Lodge Farm, North Scarle, Lincoln, LN6 9HD
Salary: FTE £30,900 pa – pro rata 2 days.
Job Type: (12 month Fixed Term Part-Time/Job Share) / 9am to 5pm or 8am till 4pm Monday and Tuesday each week.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a successful, growing FMCG manufacturer based near Lincoln. The company has a strong brand presence in the market place and a proud heritage of manufacturing world class pet food products. The contract is for an initial period of 12 months although there is the potential for this to be extended and/or become a permanent role.
The focus of the role will be to assist the Technical Manager in ensuring compliance with agreed standards through the creation, implementation & maintenance of documented procedures for quality processes. This will also include monitoring and reporting performance of the business against agreed targets.
This role would ideally suit an experienced QA with line management and strong admin skills with experience in the food or pet manufacturing sector. All candidates must be currently eligible to both live and work in the United Kingdom.
About the role:
- Create and control documented procedures for quality processes in line with required standards.
- Perform internal GMP audits and oversee external audits (Trading Standards, APHA, BRC & customer) to ensure successful completion and follow up.
- Oversee completion of traceability and recall exercises on finished products.
- Participate in and minute quality & HACCP meetings to ensure the business is addressing any issues appropriately.
- Monitor any quality issues using established procedures and ensure that the appropriate action is taken and documentation is completed, including on hold notices, non-conformances, route cause analyses and concessions.
- Oversee grading of samples to ensure conformance with finished product specifications.
- Oversee issuing of formulas and customer product specifications.
- Analyse trends and create reports for distribution against recognised KPIs, including complaints, concessions, incidents, product quality & audit scores.
- Liaise with the supplier and production team to ensure adequate monitoring, reporting and follow up of any pest control issues.
- Liaise with all concerned parties to ensure documentation for export orders is applied for and completed in line with customer requirements.
- Co-ordinate completion of documentation for new export markets.
- Keep up to date with technical & regulatory matters via trade association press, as well as any other topics deemed appropriate.
- Attend meetings/seminars/training sessions with trade associations and other relevant organisations if required.
Qualifications & Previous Experience
- Previous experience of working in a quality role with exposure to factory environments and auditing processes – essential.
- Previous experience of working in a supervisory role – highly desirable, but not essential.
- Undergraduate degree in a scientific discipline – highly desirable, but not essential.
- Experience in export of animal products or food – desirable.
- Computer literate with experience of Microsoft applications – essential.
- Full, clean driving license and car – essential due to remote location.
