The Role:
We are currently looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to join our friendly and committed team, on a fixed-term contract.
The post holder will maintain accurate and appropriate finance records, such are required to meet the requirements on the contracts or grants through which work is funded, in addition to the requirements to meet the strategic and charitable objectives of the organisation. The post holder will prepare periodic financial statements, including but not limited to profit and loss accounts, costing models for bids/grants, cash flows, data analysis, and commentaries. The post holder will provide accurate and relevant information to aid in management decision making. They will work to ensure the continuous development of the role and ensure that their work is delivered according to procedures and processes which are accurate, professional, and consistent always.
The post holder will follow all legislative and statutory guidance in line with the recommendations of Companies House, the Charity Commission, Financial Reporting Standards, and all other required standards. The post holder will be expected to attend scheduled meetings with key partners and stakeholders, as well as meetings required to attend to arising matters, as the organisation requires.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Ensure Migrant Help policies and operating procedures are followed
- Preparing income statements, balance sheets and other financial documents
- Measuring the company’s financial performance based on financial records
- Identifying problem areas and presenting recommendations to senior Finance Management
- Support longer term business planning through reporting and analysis
- Communicating and interpreting financial information to non-financial managers
- Assisting the Senior Assistant Management Accountant & Finance Manager with valuating and monitoring financial information systems and recommending improvements where needed
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement
Experience and skills:
- A degree in appropriate subject such as Finance and Accounting
- Experience working in accounting, producing financial statements and variance analysis and reports to Senior Management
- Excellent IT skills specifically MS Office & in Excel at intermediate level
- Previous experience using financial software
