Job Title: Assistant Director Independent Statutory Services, Assurance and Practice

Location: County Hall, Norwich, Norfolk, NR1 2DH

Salary: £73,485 to £81,981 per annum (Scale O)

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week

This is an exciting opportunity to join Childrens Services as an Assistant Director for Quality, Practice & Independent Statutory Services. This role brings together various elements of Quality Assurance for children services – ensuing that Children and Families experience of services, auditing and performance are aligned. This role also ensures staff voice is pivotal to assurance work and that all learning is captured and considered as part of the training plan for Children Services staff and the wider partnership. The role has a significant involvement at a senior level with Partner agencies leading on key priorities for the partnership. Effective relationships with Partner agencies are vital for this role to be successful.

You will be directly responsible for Independent Reviewing Officers, Independent Child Protection Chairs, Local Authority Designated Officer, Principal Social Worker, SENDIASS, Assurance Team and Practice Development.

You will be required to:

  • Deliver effective challenge and scrutiny across the children’s safeguarding and SEND system consistent within legislative and statutory requirements.
  • Provide strategic practice and quality assurance leadership across the Children Services system workforce.
  • Lead the delivery of Independent Statutory Services, ensuring systems are in place across the Children’s workforce that ensure children are safeguarded and have quality Care Planning.
  • Ensure mechanisms are in place which enable children and their families to be heard, understood and is central to quality assurance activity.
  • You will be a Qualified Social Worker with expert knowledge in your field, ideally with a management or leadership experience. Additionally, you will have substantial knowledge of Special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) particularly in quality assurance space. You will be a great leader with significant experience in a large, complex organisation.
