Shift Pattern: This role operates on a rotation of days and back shifts, with a 25% shift premium offered for back shifts

Job Purpose:
As an Area Leader at HQW Aerospace, you will be at the forefront of our dynamic production environment, ensuring safety, efficiency, and leadership across various departments. This role is particularly suited for degree graduates aspiring to a rewarding career in manufacturing and engineering leadership.

Key Role Requirements:
- Ensure strict adherence to Health & Safety policies and procedures
- Organize shift manning efficiently
- Manage holiday schedules
- Skilfully handle absence management, including Return to Work interviews.
- Address first-line disciplinary issues (General Discussions, investigation meetings, conflict resolution)
- KPI management (including scrap and WIP)
- Drive and maintain 5S practices
- Keep accurate skills matrix records
- Collaborate effectively with support teams
- Support the Production Manager
- Actively contribute hands-on when necessary to ensure continuity of production
- Provide cover for site management on backshift
Outputs:
- Deliver effective production management to ensure safety, quality, and output requirements are met
- Drive continuous improvement within the area
- Define, share, and implement best practices
About you:
Knowledge:
- In-depth product and process knowledge of the relevant area
- Proficiency in continuous improvement methodologies
- Familiarity with 8D/5Y process investigations
- Understanding of company policies and procedures
Skills:
- Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written
- Expertise in problem-solving and trouble-shooting techniques
- Proven ability to use initiative and work independently
- Computer literacy, including SAP
- Strong analytical skills and a data-driven mindset
Desired Experience:
- Previous experience in relevant production manufacturing areas
- Demonstrated leadership in a production environment
Qualifications:
- A degree in a relevant field
- Team Leading qualification, including employee management (desirable)
- First Aid Trained (desirable)
- Trained Fire Marshall (desirable)
- Trained in Spill Control (desirable)
