Job Title: Adult Social Worker

Salary: Grade 9, level 1-4 (£31,887 – £36,380 per annum)

The City of York Council are currently looking to recruit to a number of vacant positions within our Safeguarding and Learning Disabilities Teams.
- Two permanent positions (37 hours each) for Social Workers within our Safeguarding team with a minimum of two years post qualified experience. You will join a forward thinking, innovative team with robust leadership, who are committed to driving person centred practice and Transitional Safeguarding approaches.
- We are also looking to recruit a number of permanent Social Workers (2x 37 hours and 1x 13.5 hours) to our Learning Disabilities Team. You will have experience working with adults with a Learning Disability and communication difficulties; want to work to achieve aspirational outcomes for those we support; and be committed to undertaking good quality, timely interventions.
- Finally, we have a full time (37 hours) project role on a fixed term basis for 12 months. We are keen to hear from candidates interested in working with our Supported Living providers to ensure provision of care maximises independence and offers value for money to those within the service. This project is an opportunity to directly link intervention with benefits both for the person and the Local Authority, so demonstrable impacts can be attributed to the person undertaking this role. You may be a Social Worker or other registered professional with relevant experience.
In all posts, you will work closely with our commissioning partners and key stakeholders in health and Social Care.
You will be adept at managing high demands, with strong organisational abilities and initiative. You’ll manage pressure and competing tasks well, while being able to identify opportunities for innovation to improve what we do and how we do it.
With an excellent understanding and ability to apply legislation including the Mental Capacity Act, Care Act, Mental Health Act and Equality act, and frameworks such as the NHS Continuing Health Care Framework you will be highly skilled at providing support via signposting, undertaking Assessments, Support Planning and Reviews. You will have strong reasoning and sound decision making skills, be able to receive and provide professional challenge, and make recommendations for a course of action for the Local Authority that is legally and ethically defensible. You will also know when to seek further advice and guidance and be proficient at using new information to reformulate professional opinions.
It will be important to you to have or to develop a range of methods to work with people who may have different ways of communicating to ensure capacity and participation in decision making is maximised.
You will work collaboratively with peers, including those in the leadership team to support the Local Authority to meet its statutory requirements and vision to support people with care and support needs to have a good life, free from abuse and neglect.
