Job Title: Accounts Assistant

Location: Borough, London

Salary: £22,000 – £24,000 per annum

The Role:

We are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join the current Finance Team of 7 and support the finance function in all activities. The role would suit somebody looking to pursue a career in accounting and finance with aspirations of growing within the company.

You will deal with a wide range of tasks within the accounts function from credit control to month end invoicing and banking. You will spend time shadowing other members of the team and learning a broad range of tasks so you can provide cover to other aspects of the finance function when needed.

The successful candidate will be currently studying, or wanting to study, towards an accounting qualification such as AAT or ACCA.

Key Duties:

  • Maintaining the sales ledger and credit control function for our 2 subsidiary companies – Brighton Paper Round and Reef Environmental Solutions
  • Month end invoicing
  • Client finance queries and group email inbox
  • Bank reconciliations and petty cash
  • Reconciliation of statements
  • Intercompany reconciliation
  • Providing support and cover to other team members as required

Skills and Experience:

  • To work to the highest ethical standards and have genuine aspirations of a career in accounting and finance
  • Strong ability to problem-solve
  • Experience with Excel, and an understanding of formulas
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organisational skills with an ability to independently manage and prioritise workload
  • Team player with the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Good business and numeric sense
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Candidates should be studying or willing to study towards an accounting qualification

Desirable Experience:

  • AAT/ACCA Part qualified
  • Advanced excel skills
  • 1-2 years office-based experience
