The Role:
As part of our business growth plans and a continuous improvement philosophy, we are looking to implement process improvements and system changes to enhance the finance function.
We are looking for a part qualified Accountant / Payroll Administrator to take responsibility for the accurate, compliant and timely processing of our payroll process. They will also be responsible for the administration of company benefits, quarterly vat returns and there will be the opportunity to develop and support other areas of the finance team.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ sole charge or end-to-end payroll experience with a detailed knowledge of PAYE and benefits regulations. They will thrive working in a busy environment and have confidence in dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage the payroll process ensuring this is processed in an accurate, compliant and timely manner
- Ensure all payroll information and records are maintained in accordance with statutory requirements
- Manage benefit plans (company cars, private medical, pensions, bonuses, adjuster commissions, etc) efficiently and effectively
- Manage the administration of company cars and grey fleet to comply with the duty of care obligations as well as business mileage submissions log
- Process employee expenses and reconcile all receipts against the expense claim form
- Ensure compliance with statutory reporting and filing requirements including VAT and Corporation Tax returns
- Issue P45s, P11d and other tax forms
- Support all internal and external queries and audits related to payroll
- Interpret new legislation impacting payroll
- Manage and resolve issues relating to payroll production
- Prepare relevant monthly, quarterly and year-end reports
- Post payroll and other journals to finance system
- Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations
- Maintain Fixed Asset Register and monthly posting of depreciation charge
- Assist with the preparation of Monthly accruals and prepayments
- Support Finance Controller with Monthly Management accounts production and reporting to head office
- Review and improve finance policies and procedures
- Assist with the migration, testing and set up of new Finance accounting package

You will have / will be:
- Part qualified accountant (AAT or higher)
- 5+ years’ sole charge or end-to-end payroll experience
- Detailed knowledge of PAYE regulations with experience and understanding of payroll related compliance
- Good knowledge of Excel
- System migration and process improvements experience
