Salary: Pro-rata £24,524 – £27,181 per annum depending upon qualifications and experience (based on FTE equivalent of £30,656 – £33,977)

The Portsmouth Grammar School is a leading co-educational school located in the historic heart of Portsmouth.
The Role:
A vacancy has arisen for a chartered Librarian to support the development of the library. The post is also open to those working towards chartership and those with experience of managing a school library. This is a full time, term time role for 37.5 hours per week from 08.00-16.00 each day with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. The role holder will support service development across a range of library spaces and support the Head Librarian in managing and operating a major learning environment used by the whole school community.
The start date will be September 2024.
Main Responsibilities:
- Planning and development including monitoring and evaluating the library’s contribution to learning and teaching and contributing to whole-school curriculum and policy development
- Organisation and curriculum support including maintaining a conducive environment for learning, selecting, organising and promoting resources and supporting and advising pupils and teachers
- Support for staff and the wider community through the provision of appropriate materials and resources, collaboration with colleagues and supporting transition between KS2 and KS3
The Ideal Candidate:
- Chartered Librarian (OR working towards chartership OR previous experience working in a school library) (essential)
- A good standard of education, with excellent spoken and written English (essential)
- Previous experience of working in a team
- Motivation to work with children and young people
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people
- A willingness to engage in CPD relevant to the role
