Job Title: Junior Buyer

Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire

Salary: £25,000 – £27,000 per annum

Job Type: Full time, Permanent

Working Hours: 37 hrs per week – Monday 8.30am – 4.30pm, & Friday 8.30am – 4.00pm (Flex Fri Scheme)

Holiday: 30 days inc stats, inc to 33 days on service

Oilgear UK is part of the international Oilgear group producing High Pressure Hydraulic equipment and systems in the UK with facilities located strategically around the globe. About the Role:

It is ideally suited to someone who has some knowledge of ERP systems and has experience of working within an engineering or manufacturing environment.

This role is office based in Leeds, we operate a Flexible Friday afternoon where you have the opportunity to leave at 1pm. There is free parking on site and we are conveniently situated approximately 1 mile from the centre of Leeds with easy transport links to both the city centre and the motorway.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Obtaining quotes, comparing prices (using purchasing procedures)
  • Processing purchase orders as/when required
  • Arranging sub-contract machining/grinding/heat treatment/paints
  • Sending out the Open Order Book and confirming dates in the system.
  • Dealing with order acknowledgments and filing as required.
  • Chasing suppliers for confirmations and expediting when required.
  • Helping resolve finance queries and price discrepancies

Person Specification:

Technical/Job Specific:

  • You must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel
  • Ideally you will be experienced in a manufacturing or similar environment with some knowledge of MRP systems
  • Ideally you will be someone who is already carrying out purchasing related activities as part of your current role

Core Skills:

  • Attention to detail and good communication skills are essential to this role
  • You must be able to work to contract specific deadlines and communicate confidently with suppliers as well as all internal departments

Personal Qualities:

  • The company operates within a dynamic and fast paced environment; to thrive in this role you will need to be friendly, approachable, flexible, highly organised and have excellent communication skills
  • You will be someone that is open to learn new skills and adapt to the company’s processes and procedures, whilst also suggesting improvements where needed.
  • Proven people skills are required; you must have the ability to work with others while effectively handling internal pressures
  • Strong personal accountability with a team working ethic for timely completion of tasks
