The Reform Club is one of the oldest and most prestigious Private Members’ clubs in London, and an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Part-Time work (25 hours per week, from 11 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday) Lunch server to join this historic and iconic organisation.
The Reform Club was founded in 1836 in Pall Mall, in the centre of what is often called London’s Clubland. The founders commissioned a leading architect of the day, Charles Barry, to build an imposing and palatial clubhouse. It is as splendid today as when it opened in 1841.
The Role:
We are looking for a Restaurant Host to join our team and be the first point of contact for our members and their guests during dinner service.
Host responsibilities include greeting diners and escorting them to their tables. For this role, you should have outstanding people skills and be highly organised to ensure that our members and their guests have an excellent experience from the moment they arrive until their departure.

The Club has two dining spaces: the Coffee Room (a fine dining restaurant) and the Strangers’ Room (a lunchtime buffet restaurant), as well as an all-day bar (the Hansard Bar), Garden and varied Private Event spaces, which can accommodate between 8 and 150 guests for a seated dinner. The role holder will work as part of the wider hospitality team to deliver exceptional service to our members and guests. This part-time role will be required to cover lunch shifts (from 11h00 to 16h00; 25 hours per week), but there will be opportunities to work extra hours in the evening to cover absent colleagues, as well as working on our private events, which can take place 7 days a week.
Requirements for the role:
To succeed, you’ll need to work seamlessly with various other departments and your colleagues and communicate effectively with members, so teamwork and a fluent level of English are key. This role involves a lot of time on your feet, so being physically fit is important. The successful candidates will also have:
- At least 6 months experience working in front of the house in a fine dining restaurant.
- Excellent communication skills and a good level of spoken and written English.
- A positive, friendly, and helpful attitude and demeanour
- The ability and desire to provide exceptionally high levels of customer service to create exceptional experiences.
- Excellent grooming and presentation standards.
- Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations.
- Previous experience in a similar position and organisation.
- Knowledge of Food Hygiene regulations
Typical duties will include:
- Greeting members and their guests as they arrive
- Seating members and their guests at restaurant tables or in the bar.
- Assign members to preferred tables while keeping table rotation in mind so each station runs smoothly.
- Providing members and their guests with menus and answering any initial questions.
- Take reservations via phone and email and enter them into Residuary.
- Preparing accurate bills and taking payment
- Responding to complaints and helping to resolve them.
