About the role:
Reporting to the Learning Support Manager the Study Centre Manager will be responsible for providing and maintaining a high-quality learning environment for all learners that are seeking extra targeted support in maths & English, vocational and technical support and academic support or help with study skills. The post holder will be responsible for the overall management of the four college Study Centres and will line manage the Study Centre Leads
Key Responsibilities:
- To provide additional Study Skills (through one to one and small group engagement) to learners studying Maths & English, vocational or technical or academic who are requiring additional support to achieve their learning goals
- To contribute to the assessment and accurate recording of learners’ progress, skills and individual learning in the required format – liaising with M & E and vocational / academic staff
- To provide learning opportunities to help learners develop language, numeracy, IT, organisational skills and confidence
- To keep written records as requested and required for audit purposes e.g., weekly registers and progress updates
- Extra curricula support is offered by way of staff referral from a variety of sources
- To create high quality resources to support learners’ needs
- To inform relevant staff on matters concerning the welfare of students and to contribute to the maintenance of a safe working environment for students, staff and others
- To manage the college’s four Study Centres ensuring a standardised approach to the support we are offering the students
- Line management of Study Centre Leads
- Overseeing the monitoring and assessment requirements for students requiring exam concessions
To be successful in this role, below is what we would need from you:
- A – C / 4+ GCSE in English and Mathematics or Functional Skills Qualification at Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy
- Recent evidence of relevant professional development activities
- Previous experience of supporting/working with young people and/or adults with learning difficulties and/or disabilities
- An absolute commitment to student success and progression and an understanding of how it may be achieved and contribute to quality assurance
- Ability to work effectively with colleagues to achieve faculty and college objectives
