Job Title: Bar & Catering Manager

Saffron Walden Golf Club has a fantastic reputation for the quality of its golf course, its catering and its staff. We are looking to recruit a proactive, hands-on Bar & Catering Manager to be a forward-facing leader within the clubhouse, one who will ensure the upmost of standards are maintained as well as creating a welcoming and friendly environment for members and visitors.
Key Tasks:
- To manage the bar & catering team to operate to the standards set out by the manager; to produce a monthly roster to maximise use of staff versus demand; to ensure all details of events are updated and reviewed with the administrative team; to maintain stock levels and work closely with the Stocktaker; to review current and future pricing in line with inflation and demand; to work with other HOD’s to produce a coordinated service with excellent communication within the club; to ensure consistent quality of the food and beverage offering
- To be in regular contact with members and the Treasurer, particularly, responding quickly to any grievances
- To review the P&L on a monthly basis and propose changes if needed to remain on budget
- To review training logs for members of staff and participate in their future development
- To review operations and implement any changes necessary to improve the quality of service
- To ensure the club has all appropriate licensing and certificates and meets the expected legislation standards including Health and Safety and Food Hygiene
Key Results/Objectives:
- Annual P&L is met
- Members are served their drinks and food in a timely manner
- The club is in compliance with all required legislation
- The Bar & Catering department work cohesively as a team
- The running of events and service in the club are smooth and professional
- Positive feedback received from the membership
Responsibilities:

Reporting to: the board, in particular the Treasurer.
The club holds regular functions ranging in sizes, from a 20-cover buffet to 120 cover 3 course meals. With a small team, all catering is completed in house to meet the needs of all customers.
The club is open 7 days a week and it is expected that you will work 40 hours per week, being flexible with regard to days and times. Evenings and weekends will form part of the standard working week.
