Job Title: Workshop Manager
Location: Sittingbourne
Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 per annum (plus weekend O/T when applicable)
Job Type: Permanent, Full Time
Working Hours: This is a workshop-based office role, core hours of 40 per week, with additional hours frequently required involving evenings and weekends according to the seasonal needs of the business. Hours will closely follow the working patterns of the workshop.
The Company:
At ESM we manage the design and build of exhibition spaces to create an engaging and memorable stand for our clients and their brand. All work is undertaken in house at our Kent headquarters by our experienced team who have been working on exhibition stands and trade fairs for a number of years, bringing both expertise and the latest trends to every project. We produce some genuinely beautiful work; working on some fantastic projects for a number of agencies, but also a large volume of work for exhibitors looking to stand out at their events predominantly in the UK. The Position:
ESM Ltd are recruiting a Workshop Manager to lead our production team at our busy workshop and storage facility in Sittingbourne. We design and build exhibition stands and produce a high volume of custom built concepts each year that are then stored and re-used at shows throughout the UK and across Europe. We have a wonderful team of Carpenters, Joiners, Labourers, and Decorators, a well stocked factory of plant and equipment, a storage area, a number of vehicles, and operate in a sector where demand is booming post pandemic.
The Candidate:
This role will be a leadership and management role that would suit someone who is organised, efficient, and a planner keen to put in place their own mark on best practice, health and safety management, and the allocation of resources towards projects together with booking in and out of goods and equipment
A high degree of Joinery/Carpentry knowledge is essential in terms of managing the team and tasks but with organisation and management being key; production experience could be experience of managing trades in a similar role rather than hands on. Experience of managing and leading a production focused team is essential. Candidates must be PC literate in relevant Microsoft office applications.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Liaison with key staff to plan future activity and work
- Scheduling of labour resources
- Management of staffing levels
- Setting of core hours and overtime
- To ensure the works is opened and closed each day
- Management and development of staff
- Time and performance management
- Management of storage
- Controlling of goods in and out
- Management and Maintenance of vehicles
- Ordering of materials and maintenance of key supplier relationships
- To ensure good flows of communications between all stakeholders throughout each project
- To provide staff with everything they need to fulfil their roles and specific projects
- To maintain and manage discipline
