Gafoor is a dynamic and rapidly growing family-owned business in Preston. They are a key player in their sector operating on a national basis, supplying poultry products to leading blue chip manufacturers.
As an engineer (either electrical or mechanical bias) you will be required to work closely with the manufacturing team maintaining and servicing all processing machinery to ensure that downtime is kept to a minimum and that all preventative maintenance is conducted to avoid production disruption.
Gafoor has invested heavily in its automation over the last 10 years and you will need to have worked in a similar manufacturing environment; be able to carry out preventative maintenance, fault finding and deal with machine down-time efficiently.
The candidate will rotate as part of a multi-disciplinary team working across both day and night shifts. Excellent communication skills are a must as well as a flexible and proactive approach to ensure the needs of the business are met. Weekend work is required on rotation across the 12 person engineering team and for occasional installation, training and larger scale maintenance projects.

Key Responsibilities:
- Respond quickly to faults and matters which impact production
- Complete repairs and breakdowns in a timely manner and perform RCA’s (Root Cause Analysis) to ensure corrective and preventative actions are completed
- Maintain the highest standards of housekeeping
- Comply with all company Health & Safety rules and be able to escalate any failures
- Work closely with the Engineering Manager and the Manufacturing Managers
- Be part of an Engineering team dedicated to providing a world class service
- Be confident to communicate effectively and have the initiative to take the lead when required
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and practices
- Comply with all existing SWPs and contribute to the continuous improvement of SWPs
- In the future support and mentor Apprentices on site
About you:
Key attributes and skills:
- Must be fluent in English (verbal and written)
- Excellent I.T Skills
- A relevant degree and a min of 5 years practical / hands-on experience
- Experience working in manufacturing settings, preferably food
- Able to work under pressure in a fast paced environment
- Good experience and able to demonstrate a methodical approach to fault finding
- Conversant with UK Health & Safety rules, regulations and best practices
- Ability to priorities workload and concisely record information
