Location: Homebased (Dover)

Salary: £27,275 – Increasing to £31,059 following successful completion of a 6 months probation period

Job type: Fixed term until 1 November 2024

The Role:

We are currently looking for National Referral Mechanism Advisers to join our dedicated and Safeguarding team, on a fixed term contract with the potential for this to be extended or made permanent.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills. They will be motivated and organised with the ability to work empathetically.

The role of the National Referral Mechanism (NRM) Adviser is to provide a high-quality professional support service to victims of human trafficking and modern slavery. The adviser will assist with the completion of NRM referrals, they will also submit reconsideration requests, liaise with third-party referrers, and managing databases and inboxes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures to provide the correct processing of NRM referrals to all who require this service
  • Assist with completion and submission of NRM referrals, handling cases empathetically
  • Assist with reconsideration requests and ongoing case management
  • Support with the management of databases and monitoring of the NRM inbox
  • Maintain good relationships with third-party referrers, liaising with them on support for the client
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the Single Competent Authority, escalating issues on specific NRM referrals or general processes
  • Collect and provide information to NRM Lead and Management as and when required
  • Adhere to safeguarding policy and procedures, escalating any concerns to NRM Lead and Safeguarding Manager
  • Work in close partnership, both with other members of the NRM team and other Migrant Help departments to promote collaborative working
  • Keep up to date with legislation and the impact it may have on clients and disseminate as appropriate to the team
  • Provide support to clients and undertake any other duties as directed by the NRM Lead

The experience and skills you need:

  • Experience of working in a client focused environment, providing customer service to clients.
  • Experience working with vulnerable people.
  • Working knowledge of trafficking and modern-day slavery.
  • Ability to explain complicated information to Service Users including the use of an interpreter

What else to expect:

  • The safeguarding team is open Monday to Friday, you will work hours between 9am and 5pm.
  • This is a homebased role; however, they may be a requirement for travel to meetings dependent on operational needs.
