Job title: Chief Quality Inspector

Location: Bournemouth, BH11 8QN

Salary: Competitive

Hours: Full Time Contract, Permanent – 38 Hours per week

The Company’s site in Bournemouth has an exciting opportunity for Chief Quality Inspector. The position is full-time permanent, and is based out of the company facility in Bournemouth, Dorset.

Primary function of the position is to manage and control the Quality Inspection Department in its day to day activities, ensure compliance to the company Quality Management Systems and to ensure all products meet customer requirements. The individual will also assist addressing non-conformance processes when necessary.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • To liaise with internal departments as required on company quality related issues
  • To be responsible for effectiveness of the inspection function through a team of inspectors and be the main arbitrator on inspection related matters
  • To assist investigations into NCR’s, CARs and customer complaints that relate to shop floor processes
  • To carry out process / product audits as required against the audit schedule
  • To ensure that all approved operator and inspection operations are properly defined on route cards, to ensure that there are detailed inspection plans for all parts and that such plans are kept up to date
  • To control and manage develop new inspection criteria
  • Approval and monitoring of the approved operator system, including all approved operator work instructions, training, approval and extension of the scheme to all operators
  • Ensure that the FAI process is correctly implemented within operations and to ensure that all FAI packs are fully reviewed prior to forwarding to Quality Engineering
  • To be instrumental in the execution of current and new continuous / business improvement process initiatives
  • To assist DSQR/Procurement Quality when authorised by the Quality Manger
  • Be responsible for 6S in the inspection areas
  • To liaise closely with Quality Engineering to provide support
  • Required member of State 1 & 2 of the MRB
  • To assist with 2nd and 3rd party audits
  • To ensure that all inspectors raise concessions and provide necessary supporting information and to ensure that concession applications are correct before submission


Position Requirements

  • Apprenticeship in an Engineering discipline and would ideally have a formal qualification (e.g. HNC, HND or degree or equivalent in an Engineering discipline)
  • Familiar with a variety of Continuous Improvement and Lean tools
  • Minimum of 5 years with man management
  • Considerable experience of working in a similar environment (Aerospace)
  • Motivation and drive
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word & Outlook.

Desirable:

-Qualified in 8D and be a 6 sigma greenbelt
-Strong Leadership
-Suitable additional experience may be acceptable in lieu of formal education.
