Job Title: Machinist / Toolmaker
Location: Launceston
Salary: Up to £49,400 (dependent on experience)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent (overtime available). Monday – Friday

About the role:
We are looking for an experienced Machinist / Toolmaker to work in our small, but experienced workshop based in Launceston, Cornwall. The ideal candidate will have proven, previous experience in this role and be able to produce high-quality work while meeting customer deadlines. Please only apply if you have experience on metal working lathes.
Responsibilities:
- Operate a range of machine tools including XYZ 425 Lathe, XYZ 350 Lathe and Colchester 2000
- Not essential to role but the ability to operate Grinders (Surface / External / internal), and Electrical Discharge Machines would be a bonus
- Safely load and unload the lathes with material to be turned
- Setting and operation of manual and CNC lathes.
- Turning a wide range of materials
- Accurate and precise measurement using micrometres, verniers, gauges and calipers
- Produce parts exactly to customer’s technical drawings
- Cut up stock material and comply to ISO9001 traceability requirements
- Operator machine maintenance – pre-start checks, metalworking fluid checks, swarf removal, clean down etc
- Knowledge of the appropriate measurement equipment to inspect finished tools and parts to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications
- Be fully aware of the Company’s Health and Safety Regulations and ensure they are respected and always followed
Skills Required:
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Minimum 5 years experience as a Machinist / Turner / Toolmaker Engineer or similar
- Knowledge and previous experience with all other machines in the toolroom preferred (mills, saws etc)
- Own tool preferred, although not essential
- Demonstrate excellent attention to detail in all work undertaken
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as individually
- Ability to work to tight tolerances
