Job Title: Health, Safety & Environment Director
Location: High Post, Salisbury
Salary: £80,000 – £100,000 per annum
Job Type: Full time, interim role 12-18 months

The Role:
Operate as key member of the CCM Senior Leadership Team contributing towards the development and delivery of the business strategy – providing specific subject matter leadership, expertise and direction for all matters of Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE)
Implement a HSE strategy that meets or exceeds statutory obligations and delivers continuous improvement through operational excellence to improve all aspects and standards of workplace HSSE and which helps CCM live and embody the culture and values of a high-reliability organisation.
Embed engaged safety behaviours at all levels to make a real difference in the lives of our employees and the community in which we operate.
Key Responsibilities:
As part of the CCM Leadership Team:
- Develop and implement an effective HSSE strategy for the site.
- Contribute and input into strategic planning, ensuring the HSSE priorities are represented fully within the wider CCM business strategy and plans.
- Proactively identify and manage Operational and Business risk. Create strategies to minimise or mitigate.
- Support in the development of site-wide competency, talent, and succession planning
- Role model CCM leadership behaviours – making CCM an employer of choice which is a safe and preferred place to work with positive employee engagement.
Implement a HSE strategy and policy which delivers a legally compliant HSSE service to the business, safe and efficient operations and which supports business growth:
- Ensure all major risks are identified and proactively managed.
- Engage with the HSE, Regulatory bodies, Unions, and other key stakeholders.
- Maintain key performance indicators for HSSE performance monitoring.
- Manage and deliver safety communication programme.
- Direct incident investigation and reporting
Instill in CCM a High Reliability operating culture and psychological safety within the workplace:
- Consultation and regular engagement with the union and safety representatives.
- Manage and deliver Safety Communication Programme
- Provide regular feedback to colleagues on reported issues.
- Develop and grow the capability of the HSE function through professional development and coaching.
- Promote a team culture of sensitivity to safe operational performance.
- Ensure all opportunities to learn from experiences are shared across CCM and the group, promoting a psychological safe reporting culture.
- Develop workforce and leadership HSSE competence through appropriate learning packages and safety programmes
The Candidate:
- Chartered member of Institute of Occupational Safety and Health
- Diploma or equivalent (essential requirement)
- Degree or equivalent (desirable requirement)
- Chartered Member of technical Institute
- Permitted to work in the UK
- Experience of working in Top Tier COMAH facility
- Significant experience and a track record of delivering significant SHE improvement
- Experience of working in High Hazard environment
- Knowledge of Safety Leadership
- Experience of Culture Change
- Significant understanding of Safety Case Principles
- Five years experience of leading SHE within a complex technical business
