About the Role:
Due to our continued growth and expansion plans we’re recruiting for a person who can drive and to work alongside our existing teams at our fully equipped site with melting, rolling, heat treatment, grinding, straightening, cutting and testing capabilities. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of Sheffield’s dynamic and long-standing companies – a key fixture in the Sheffield Steel industry!
Key Tasks:
A position has opened up for a General Worker/Driver in our busy works.
The successful candidate will be required to complete the following tasks:
- Make deliveries and collections using a Mercedes Sprinter Pick-up, predominantly within the Sheffield area
- Use of forklift trucks / overhead cranes and/or other lifting equipment where required, ensuring the safe and efficient loading/unloading/ movement of material across the site
- Ensure materials are checked off in an accurate and timely manner and checked for damages and quantity
- Correctly identify materials prior to dispatch & at booking-in, including checking weights, quality, quantities, and dimensions. This may include the completion of paperwork to be sent up to the office for further processing
- Carry out routine daily maintenance and safety checks of vehicles and equipment being used
- Deliver materials/equipment/items to production/work areas as required
- Assist with stock checks when required
- Support quality, productivity and process improvement initiatives
- Record and report faults to relevant areas
- Ensure your area of work is clean, well-organised and safe; and adheres to Company housekeeping processes
- Undertake training relevant to the role and across teams to provide resource/skills and supports / works in other areas as may be necessary
- At all times act as an ambassador for Pro-Roll Ltd; be well-presented, polite and helpful when dealing with our Customers and Suppliers
About you:
Essential Candidate Requirements:
It is essential that you have the following skills:
- Full UK Manual Driving Licence (Category B (cars), or above)
- Excellent attention to detail
- Fork Lift Truck Licence / Overhead Crane Licence
- Experience of working within a metals/manufacturing industry
Owing to the specifics of our Company Fleet Insurance policy, we can only employ persons aged 30 and above in the role of Driver.
