Salary: £37,725 – £46,857 per annum

Job Type: Full time, Permanent

Working Hours: 36 hours per week

What does a Social Worker do at Hillingdon?

The London Borough of Hillingdon is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Social Worker to join our Children with Disabilities Team, where you will be at the forefront of transforming lives and shaping a brighter future for our community.

As a Social Worker in our Children with Disabilities Team, you will play a pivotal role in the lives of children and young people with disabilities and their families. Your primary focus will be on conducting assessments, developing care plans, and providing ongoing support to ensure the best outcomes for these vulnerable children. You will work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, educational institutions, and external agencies to create a holistic support network.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children’s needs and develop effective care plans.
  • Deliver high-quality interventions and support services tailored to each child’s unique circumstances.
  • Liaise and collaborate with families, carers, and other stakeholders to ensure a cohesive approach to care.
  • Advocate for children’s rights and work towards achieving the best possible outcomes in line with their best interests.
  • Monitor and review progress regularly, adapting plans as required to meet evolving needs.
  • Provide crisis intervention when necessary, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children at all times.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documentation in line with statutory requirements.
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments and best practices in social work and children with disabilities to enhance your expertise.

About you:

  • Qualified and registered Social Worker with relevant experience in children’s services.
  • A deep understanding of the challenges faced by children with disabilities and their families.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and collaborate with external agencies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to make informed decisions in complex situations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting safeguarding and child protection.

What we offer:

We offer a range of Company benefits. These vary according to the business area and role but may include:

  • Free parking (4 days a week) if based at the Civic Centre
  • Generous holiday entitlement: a minimum 26 days a year (plus bank holidays), rising to 29 days after five years’ service. For more senior positions holiday entitlements can rise to a maximum of 37 days
