The Opportunity
We require a Software Developer with C# knowledge to join the business initially to undertake some development work for a key customer. We would then hope to develop your skills and knowledge to become a fully-fledged Systems Engineer, supporting our Strategic Programmes with all of our day-to-day design and development requirements.
The Role
This role requires an individual with a logical & analytical mind-set who is always keen to learn and who will enjoy having a diverse range of engineering projects. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and result driven. Coaching and mentoring will be provided with the objective of developing the candidate to become autonomous in their day-to-day activities and to support their career aspirations.
The candidate will be involved with the development of a C# PC application to test a Unit Under Test (UUT).
The application shall be GUI based, running on Windows 10 and above, and is required to interface with PCIe FPGA development boards resident in a Test PC.
The application shall have the following functionality:
- Manage data transfers between host PC and PCIe cards
- Display the UUT status as part of application
- Provide an interface to allow the user to send text based scripts to the PCIe cards for execution
- Log data sent to / from the UUT in timestamped logs

Skills and Knowledge Required
The resource should demonstrate a passion for new technology and be comfortable working closely with colleagues from embedded software and firmware as both are resident on the PCIe cards.
They should be able to support a dynamic and forward thinking team, with a desire to do things differently to support final delivery.
They should provide support to the project and have skills and experience in the following areas:
- Proficiency in Test Application Software Design: –
- Ability to create desktop PC applications in C# using design tools such as Visual Studio FPGAs
- Experience developing software to industry standards
Tasks Required
- Software requirements capture and management
- Concept software application development for complex functions and systems
- Test GUI Application software design
- High speed communications data links
- Integration and test of GUI Test solutions;
- Production of material for design reviews;
- Development of test planning, integration and design verification;
- Ability to interact with Hardware, Embedded Software and Firmware members of the Development team.
Key Deliverables
- Provide Application Software engineering support for the Project.
- Successfully achieve full security clearance
- Ensure they provide support, as and when required at the location dictated by the tasks and SC requirement.
- Attend and support peer reviews
- Support the production of the Application Software documentation
- Test Application Software Design from Concept to Final Design sign-off
- Review of Test Equipment Requirements and filter out the pertinent Software Requirements
