Salary: £23,210 per annum, Increasing to £26,132 after successful completion of a 6-month probation period

Job type: 12 Months Fixed Term

The Role:

We are currently looking for Submissions Officers to join our friendly and committed Submissions team, on a Fixed Term Contract. There will be a potential for the role to be made permanent or be extended.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated and computer literate, have demonstrable experience of working as part of a team as well as taking the initiative to work independently and be passionate about protecting our vulnerable clients.

​The post holder will be responsible for assisting with incoming and outgoing post and emails relating to Asylum Support which plays a key part in ensuring that our Service Users receive the support they need. This role will also involve quality checking Asylum Support applications prior to submission to the Home Office, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Processing incoming and outgoing correspondence received in relation to Asylum Support
  • Ensure that a professional and courteous service is provided to all clients, both internal and external
  • Work within the specification of the contract with the Home Office, and on immigration related matters within the scope of the relevant Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC) accreditation level and service
  • Keep full accurate and up-to-date records and complete case follow up within the requisite time scales and undertake any necessary administrative tasks in relation to the work
  • Ensure that their work meets overall quality standards and, where possible, exceeds it in line with Government and other Stakeholder contracted arrangements
  • Take responsibility for distribution and receiving parcels, monitor stationery, consumables, office supplies and equipment
  • Ensuring that any documents that do not meet the required standards are identified and processed in accordance with policy
  • Undertake any other duties which may be assigned from time to time and may include cover for other funded projects

About you:

  • The experience and skills you need:
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment and meeting targets
  • Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel and databases; particularly in making and keeping accurate and timely records
  • Good clear written and oral communication skills in English, particularly in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Have high attention to detail and ability to problem solve
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure, both individually and in a team

What else to expect:

  • Our Submissions department is open Monday to Sunday, you will work hours between 8.30am and 5pm; covering weekends on a rota basis
  • You will be required to work in our Dover office for the training period; however, there is a potential for hybrid working once you are fully trained
  • A 6-week induction and training period, where you will learn about the Asylum Process and our systems, meet your new colleagues, develop your analytical, communication and ITskills and learn what makes our Submissions team a ‘Great Place to Work’
