Job Title: Financial Controller

Location: Holland Park W14 8DZ – Hybrid – at least 3 days per week

Salary: £70,000 plus pension and benefits

Job type: Permanent, 37.5 hours per week

Our centre in Holland Park offers highly intensive courses for adults, that are practical and relevant. Our clients range from very senior business and professional people and VIPs to relatively young pre-experience professionals. We run group courses as well as substantial 1-1 tuition programmes and much of our work involves ESP including, for example, English for Law.

Job Description:

We are looking for a motivated and experienced person to join us on a permanent basis as our Financial Controller. We are looking for the right person to join us to oversee all areas of the finance department and have real input into our ongoing success.

You will be responsible for Leading the Finance Team to ensure sound business practice, security of the London School of English’s (and those of any associated companies) finances and assets, and compliance with all statutory requirements.

This role requires a fully qualified candidate with a Strong financial acumen and expertise in UK financial regulations and accounting principles, financial planning and analysis.

Principal responsibilities:

  • Working with the finance team to compile and agree the annual cash flow projection. On a monthly basis identify any potential problems or issues with the cash-flow position, discuss with Chief Executive and make recommendations as appropriate
  • Work alongside the company’s accountants in producing Year End Accounts. Provide them with all requisite information, including making files and information available
  • Manage and coordinate the annual company audit process working with the company’s auditors providing them with all requisite information
  • Oversee the preparation of the regular management accounts information, including supporting commentary and monthly KPIs across the business
  • Create and present Board packs on the company’s financial performance against financial targets
  • Lead the delivery of projects associated with finance integration activities

Person Specification:

Skills

  • Strong financial acumen and expertise in UK financial regulations and accounting principles, financial planning and analysis
  • Articulate, with exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Thorough and methodical attention to detail
  • Strong reporting and presentation skills with the ability to lead in meetings
  • Proactive problem-solving skills – and identification of opportunities
  • Advanced Excel ability, including Vlookups, pivots, modelling, charts and other visualisations, etc.
  • Experience of using an accounting system; ideally – but not essentially – Xero

Knowledge:

Fully qualified Accountant with a qualification from an institution such as:

  • Association of Chartered Accountants (ACA)
  • Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
  • Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)
  • Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA)
