We are the main local authority for Norfolk providing services countywide to more than 928,000 Norfolk residents. We take the lead in critical policy areas, working with 83 elected Members responsible for the strategic local government services in the county.
The role
We are looking for a Head of Environment to lead our Environmental Strategy in Norfolk, you’ll lead a significant number of nationally-important programmes and projects and play a pivotal role in maintaining Norfolk’s reputation as a wonderful place to live, work and visit.
This is an exciting, varied, and dynamic role due to the unique combination of environmental characteristics Norfolk is blessed with, including its dynamic coastline and the Norfolk Coast AONB, its rich and varied biodiversity, and the world-famous Broads National Park.
The job role with involve providing expert insight and guidance to our Executive Leadership Team and senior managers as well as partners across the public, private, and voluntary sectors, driving forward a broad range of development programmes.
Ideal candidate
- Experienced Leader with an environmental background or knowledge
- Adept at working in a political organisation and understand the complexities, challenges and benefits this brings
- Experience in managing a team and ensuring they continue to achieve great things; maintaining Norfolk’s track record of leading major international projects and developing innovative new approaches to safeguard nature for current and future generations.
