The Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) is a Bristol-based national charity that supports people and organisations across the UK to tackle the climate emergency and end the suffering caused by cold homes. We do this by sharing our knowledge, practical experience and policy insights.
The Role
Due to a significant increase in the demand for our services arising from the cost of living and energy crises, we have a vacancy for a Senior Project Manager to join our growing and dynamic Household Energy Services team.
You will manage a varied portfolio of projects with strategic importance that may be across both our fuel poverty and retrofit advice work.
We are looking for an excellent communicator and negotiator with an ability to develop and sustain partnerships with a range of stakeholders who is keen to take up a challenging position at the forefront of CSE’s work.
Responsibilities include
- Managing and coordinating the delivery of one or more larger projects, including responsibility for ongoing development, service improvement, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Leading and coordinating wider project teams as appropriate to achieve successful project delivery
- Maintaining effective financial controls of projects and providing the Director of HES and Development with up-to-date projections of spend and expenditure.
- Managing and developing key strategic relationships with funders.
- Working with the Development team and Director of HES to identify and develop new opportunities associated with the development of CSE’s advice work.
- Overseeing the promotion and marketing of projects to ensure effective engagement with the target audience (in conjunction with Communications team).
- Representing CSE at external events and conferences as required.
Ideal Candidate
- Three years or more experience of complex project delivery, including planning, team management, task allocation, budgeting and reporting.
- Experience of managing large projects (£250k-£1million, or with a team of over 10 people) over a period of at least 1 year.
- Experience of outcomes-based project monitoring and evaluation.
- Experience of working with local authorities or other public and voluntary sector partners.
- Good negotiation skills with ability to work with a range of stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience of writing effective technical or nontechnical summaries of complex issues.
- Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
