Ourway Care support our clients to recruit their own teams to support their daily routines, whether that be hospital visits, trips, work or holidays.
The Role:
We are recruiting for a part time role to support a gentleman with a Spinal Cord Injury two days per week. The days will vary but will be communicated in advance and there will be the opportunity for additional hours to cover for other members of the team.
Our client lives at home with his partner and two children, aged 14 and 8, and two family cats. Staff will not be involved in child or pet care and must be respectful that this is a family home.
This is an exciting opportunity to assist this gentleman with all aspects of his active daily living, he has an active daily programme and attends various therapy and exercise sessions which staff will be required to support. Staff will also be required to support this gentleman on family holidays.
Applicants must hold a current, clean, driving licence and be experienced drivers as part of the role will involve driving the client’s own vehicle.
Applicants for this role must be fully vaccinated for Covid 19 and be non-smokers.
Current Shift Patterns:
- 07:45-21:00 – Monday to Friday
- 08:00-21:00 – Saturday and Sunday
Pay Rates (upon completion of probationary period):
- £15.00 per hour weekday day rate
- £17.00 per hour weekend day rate
£1.00 per hour less during probationary period
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
Supporting your client to safely lead a fulfilling and more independent life by:
- Provide practical support for your client and their family, such as helping with personal care, household tasks and paperwork
- Assist and encourage your client to engage in everyday home, social, leisure and work activities, according to the individual’s choice
- Support and monitor your client’s healthcare needs, including administering medication and other clinical tasks
- Help your clients to access community facilities and be included in community groups, if they so wish
- Understand their communication needs and adapt your own communication style accordingly
- Keep accurate, up to date records of all the care you provide
- Work positively with other professionals, such as doctors and therapists, to ensure consistency of support
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times
- Participate in learning and development opportunities as required
The Candidate:
- Positive attitude and proactive approach
- Excellent communication skills
- Flexible and reliable
- Physically fit
- Must be tolerant of cats
- Full, clean driving licence, prepared to drive the wheelchair adapted vehicle on occasions when the client is unable to drive himself (must be experienced driver for insurance purposes)
- Fully vaccinated for Covid 19
- Non smoker
- At least 6 months experience of care essential
- Previous experience in a complex care background is preferred but not essential
