Job Title: Progress Tutor

Location: Wigan

Salary: Actual salary £19,348.41 – £24,799.79 per annum

Job type: Permanent, Term Time plus 1 week. Full time, 36.25 hours per week. This equates to 39 weeks in the year, 38 of which are worked in conjunction with the academic year. The remaining 5 days will be worked at an agreed time.

Work pattern – 08.30 – 16.30, Monday – Friday.

St John Rigby College offers a wide range of academic and vocational courses at all levels in a highly supportive and caring environment to approximately 1400 full-time students aged 16-18. The Role:

As a Progress Tutor, you will support and monitor students, working with them individually and in groups, to deliver a tutorial programme to help students focus on their learning and study skills, enabling them to make academic progress to achieve their full potential. You will be responsible for the progress, performance and wellbeing of a caseload of students, taking measures to assist them in exceeding their target grades. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with young people and have the ability to liaise with parents and carers to establish positive relationships with students. You will track and monitor student attendance, achievement and retention, as well as managing safeguarding concerns successfully.

Breakdown of Salary/Grade:

9-11 of the Sixth Form Colleges Support Staff Pay Spine (currently £22,584 – £24,138 pro

rata, per annum, actual salary £19,348.41 – £20,679.77 per annum). Please note: qualified

teachers will start at the top of this scale and, subject to satisfactory appraisal, will progress to

SP14 (£26,440 pro rata, per annum, actual £22,651.96 pa) in year 2 and the following year to

a maximum of SP17 (£28,947 pro rata, per annum, actual £24,799.79pa).
