Role Summary:
This is a great opportunity to join an existing team, with a well-established process driven approach to production, working in a growing local business within an exciting sector!
As Assistant Production Manager you will be responsible for overseeing production of our equipment relating to RMGroup projects in conjunction with the Production Manager and your team, working to deadlines to ensure our solutions and services are delivered on time in full, on cost and on quality. Working with a team of multi skilled engineers, managing internal production as well as resource planning for your site teams, this role is both challenging and exciting!
Proven experience of managing a team is vital, as is previous mechanical and electrical engineering experience, as your team will be responsible for installing, testing, and commissioning of our robotics and automation systems.
Main Duties:
- Creating Top Level Production Plans for PMO Visibility.
- Creating labour resource plans for your engineering team and communicating to them.
- Provide advice, direction, and support to the electrical and mechanical engineers.
- Conduct daily line walks with the Project Manager to determine progress to plan.
- Responsible for all aspects of health and safety in the workshop.
- Responsible for factory layout and lean manufacturing operation. Organisation of workshop tools, consumables, and housekeeping (5S).
- Driving continuous improvement within the business, ensuring processes are followed and working with your team to promote the company’s culture.
- Working with the Production Manager and Operations Manager to introduce new processes and systems within the business to enable continued growth of the business.
- Assisting the Operations Manager with any HR related concerns within your team.
- Managing your teams training requirements, with support from the Operations Manager.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience managing a team ideal but no essential as ILM Management Training will be provided.
- Technical Qualification in Engineering, ideally Electrical very desirable.
- Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing
