Job Title: Community Development Worker

Location: Aylesbury

Salary: £23,888 per annum, pro rata, dependent on experience.

Job Type: Fixed term for 12 months.

Working Hours: Between 22.5 – 37.5 hours per week.

Charities Together is a unique collaboration of 6 Bucks based charities including, Age UK Buckinghamshire, Carers Bucks, Citizens Advice Bucks, Connection Support, Youth Concern, Community Impact Bucks, which have been brought together to help support individuals and families who are suffering from the cost-of-living crisis and are struggling to access support services. We also work closely with smaller grass roots organisations trusted within the local communities, who know or are already supporting people during this crisis.

We are currently recruiting for a Community Development Worker to join the team. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of and develop the Charities Together project.

About the role.

You will provide practical support to individuals and families that are struggling with financial insecurity to access and navigate services such as benefits, housing, debt, wellbeing, community networking and employment support and advice with the aim of starting to break cycles of poverty and financial disadvantage.

Working alongside and supporting local grassroots community organisations, you will identify and support clients by signposting and accessing appropriate services to further meet the individual needs of the clients.

There will also be the exciting opportunity to identify and build relationships with small community-based organisations, leading the exchange of insight, ideas, and effective co-production between local grass roots organisations, the 6 collaborative partners and other organisations,

About you.

You will have experience of providing or accessing support and/or volunteering opportunities within local communities in Buckinghamshire. In addition, you will have a clear understanding of the issues impacting individuals and families that are affected by financial disadvantage and poverty. Ideally, you will have at least one year’s experience working in the advice, information and/or support field.

Your ability to easily build connections, and your excellent active listening skills enable you to have a strong understanding of the different needs of people living in diverse communities and of the barriers and issues around accessing services.

You understand the importance of working collaboratively and are passionate about creating networks between agencies and organisations to enable learning, understanding and better support for the community.
