Job Title: Associate Development Chemist
Location: High Post, Salisbury
Salary: £26,000 – £27,600 per annum and it is 37.hr working week.
Job Type: Permanent/Full-time.

The Role:
The Graduate Chemist / Associate Development Chemist will be required to conduct chemistry tasks, explosive compatibility testing and explosive sensitiveness testing with support from the Development Chemist in our Research, Design and Development (RD&D) Team.
This role will be worked over a 4.5 day week (37.5 hours); Monday to Thursday 08:00 – 16:45 and Friday 08:00 – 12:30. Flexibility in this role is critical to the success of supporting the team.
The responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to):
- To conduct chemical goods inward inspection and maintain documentation on chemical raw materials for technology projects. Maintain RD&D dept. chemical stores.
- To conduct, record and interpret explosive material compatibility tests and explosive sensitiveness tests.
- To assist the technology development chemists in the practical aspects of explosive and non-explosive formulation research and development.
- Analysis of samples of explosive composition for compliance with expected formulation.
- Assist with tests and trials of compositions, components, and products.
- To assist with the writing of COSHH assessments and Mix instructions.
- Working under supervision to complete specific project tasks as required by the more senior development
Graduate Chemist / Associate Chemist Specification:
- Right to live and work in the UK, with ability to obtain SC level clearance
- Must have continually resided in the UK for a minimum of 5 years
- BSc. (Hons) Degree or equivalent in a Chemistry or chemistry related discipline
- Demonstrate experience of working in a chemistry laboratory conducting chemical analysis or testing and/or research and development.
- Knowledge of Thermal Analysis Techniques, desirable
- Working knowledge of conducting and reporting compatibility test and sensitivity tests of chemical compositions.
- Proficient in MS Office
