Job Title: Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

Location: Oxford

Salary: £40,475 – £42,985 per annum

Job type: Permanent, Full time

Working Hours: 40 Hours Per Week

About the Role:

We believe that this role offers considerable opportunity to someone who has previously managed safeguarding effectively within schools or children’s homes. It is a newly-created role where you will be providing the required expertise, guidance and advice throughout The Mulberry Bush School and beyond. You will be given the space and time to manage the issues associated with your responsibilities. You will also receive considerable supervision and support from the management team to help you achieve and further develop the standards for which we are renowned.

Founded more than seventy years ago, The Mulberry Bush is a therapeutic community where the children present with complex, challenging behaviours which link very closely to the safeguarding priorities. You will be working closely with all teams across the School to ensure the effective identification, management and resolution of safeguarding, child protection and wellbeing issues. In addition, you will take day-to-day responsibility for liaising with statutory and non-statutory agencies as well as parents/carers on all relevant matters.

About you:

Together with a track record of managing safeguarding successfully, you will need to be experienced in working with children and young people as well as complex families and networks. Appropriately trained and qualified, you will possess a detailed knowledge and understanding of the relevant national policies and their application in practice. You should also be fully familiar with the responsibilities of agencies towards vulnerable children such as the Child Protection Procedures and intervention work.
