About the Role:
To organise activities and events which are both interesting and appealing to all residents to ensure that there is a vibrant and active community across the organisation.
To coordinate volunteering across the organisation including assessing appropriateness of applications, matching volunteers to roles across the organisation and increasing volunteering uptake by existing residents and the wider community.
Key Duties:
Responsibility for the planning and delivery of a programme of activities and events involving residents, their families and other team members. Helping residents retain a sense of purpose and self-worth in an environment of safety, trust and respect.
Responsible for the recruitment, interviewing and matching of all volunteering across the organisation including student placements. Ensuring the volunteers are managed appropriately and that meaningful purpose if found for the volunteers and the service they volunteer within. Encouraging and coordinating SJMT residents to volunteer within roles across the organisation to include peer support roles and meaningful placements.
Main Responsibilities Include:
Activity Coordination:
- Planning and delivery of a programme of activities and events across the organisation
- Encourage and support residents to lead their own interest groups / activity sessions
- Communicate upcoming activities to residents and volunteers
- Attend relevant residents’ meetings and seasonal activity meetings to drive activities and events forward and communicate what is happening and take action regarding suggestions or concerns
- Ensure notice boards are organised, well presented and using corporate branded paperwork detailing daily and weekly activities or themes and all forthcoming events
- Monitor attendance of all events, activities and entertainment to ensure those not attending are highlighted and action is taken to ensure non-participants are encouraged to take every opportunity to become fully involved with community life
- Ensure new residents are included and receive the same experience
- Provide support with the risk assessment process as part of the planning of the activities programme
- Responsible for the residents’ safety and wellbeing during events and activities
- To work with all interest groups to organise expenditure of individual budgets
- Review events upon completion and make improvements for next time, where applicable
- Be comfortable within both housing and care services and tailor the types of activities to the location and audience
- Provide occasional telephone support to housing residents to cover sickness and annual leave across the team
- To be flexible to work occasional weekend and evenings as required
Volunteer Coordination:
- To create meaningful volunteering job roles across all areas and department within the organisation
- Advertise and actively recruit volunteers from across SJMT residents and the wider community
- Match volunteer applications with roles across the organisation
- Coordinate the recruitment and onboarding of volunteers
- Supervise and ensure volunteers are operating safely and effectively and that they are being managed appropriately by managers across the organisation
- Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of volunteering across the organisation
