Job Title: Day Centre Team Leader
Location: Ron Manning Day and Activity Centre, Higham Ferrers, NN10 8JZ
Salary: £10.86 per hour
Job types: Permanent, (11 hrs per week increasing to 16.5 hrs)
Working Hours: 9.30-15.00 Mondays, Wednesdays initially, building to 3 days per week by September 2023.
SERVE support North Northamptonshire residents as well as lead on Countywide Projects to reduce isolation amongst the Older Person’s population.
About the Role:
Providing high quality care and support to older service users with a range of disabilities and low-medium level needs.

Key Responsibilities:
- Maintaining a safe and supportive environment for service users during their visits to the Centre
- Development, implementation and promotion of organisational procedures that represent best practice within the Day Centre.
- Building the numbers of people at the Centre over time in line with SERVEs business strategy, KPIs and milestones.
- Resourcing services appropriately with the Day Centre team and volunteers
- Developing and leading on a range of activities during the day and complementary services
- Assist service users with their personal care needs including Toileting
- Collect payments from service users and make cash book administration logs
- Order weekly food shop online
- Undertaking initial assessments at the service users’ home or centre, ensuring services are suitable for a prospective user.
- Complete assessments required and plan, monitor, evaluate on a regular basis – Outcome Star – for SERVEs Wellbeing strategy.
- Respecting personal choice lifestyles of colleagues, service users and people with care needs, equal opportunities principles are applied at all times.
- A clear understanding of issues faced by people with dementia and their carers.
- Encourage and promote service users to be as independent as possible and to move on to appropriate services when in the service users’ best interests.
- Adhere to all Health & Safety procedures and policies, taking full responsibility for self, and service users.
- Attend formal supervision and a yearly appraisal.
- Attend training booked and make suggestions for your own continued personal development.
- Attend team meetings and contribute to this process.
- Raise issues and suggestions to your manager of ways the service or service users support can be improved and actively feedback around your service.
- Provide administration support to the operations manager and any other adhoc duties as reasonably requested.
About you:
Required Skills:
- Health & Social Care Level 3 qualification or equivalent
- Ability to work alone being adaptable and work on own initiative
- Experience working with older people and families
- Experience of coordinating volunteers/staff, building relationships
- Implementation of procedures representing best practice in a similar environment
- Understanding issues faced by people with dementia and their carers
Desired Skills:
- Experience working to KPIs / milestones
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to record accurately verbally and in writing
- Experience working in accordance with Health & Safety procedures and policies
- Basic administration for cash books and performance logs
- Knowledge of working within the voluntary sector
- Ability to work alone and/or part of a team
- Able to present a positive attitude during busy or stressful periods
- Ability to provide constructive feedback to staff and volunteers
- Understanding equal opportunities with the ability to work in an appropriate and sensitive way
