DB Cargo (UK) is the UK’s largest rail freight company. We provide freight, infrastructure and passenger charter trains throughout the UK, and freight services to and from mainland Europe via the Channel Tunnel. We also provide traction and train crew for scheduled passenger operators.
The role:
We are currently recruiting for an IS Application Support Analyst to support the management of IT Applications and Services to meet the needs of DBC UK. Ensuring compliance to DB ICT Security and other Regulations and processes.
The successful candidate will be a key Application Support and Business Analyst resource, responsible for developing IT project requirements to ultimately support the global strategy through IT applications and infrastructure across DB Cargo.
What will you be doing?
Here are some of the responsibilities that the successful candidate will have on a day-to-day basis:
- Delivering broad-based IS support for DBC strategic applications within the Production, Sales, Finance and HR sectors of the business.
- Providing 2nd line support for local DBC UK IT applications through working closely with our 1st line support team.
- Liaising with and managing 3rd party suppliers as and when needed to resolve issues and maintain service.
- Fulfilling any requirements for business analysis on local (typically smaller scale) IS/IT projects.
- Direct support for the IT Applications and Project Manager.
- Following and providing input to DBC IT methodologies, processes and standards.
- Seek continuous improvement in day to day working.
- Reporting on progress of activities such as incident queues, new requests etc.
- Completing and reviewing compliance and security documentation.
- Occasional support for the implementation of out of hours support.
Who are we looking for?
- The successful candidate will demonstrate proven application support experience using formal methods such as ITIL for incident management, change management and show an appetite for researching, developing, and learning new skills and keeping up to date with technology.
- Experience in business analysis for the purposes of project support.
- Experience of working with Corporate IT systems and understanding Agile working practices.
- An ability to work under pressure and be self-sufficient with managing priorities as well as demonstrating close team working and a customer centric approach.
- Confident with an ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing particularly with internal business users and external vendors.
- Experience of working with systems such as SAP, Workday, Jira and an understanding of Order to Cash processes would be beneficial but not essential.
- Knowledge of the railway industry is not explicitly required although would be beneficial.
