The role:

The role of Shift Maintenance Team Leader will be responsible for the daily supervision and co-ordination of a 3-man maintenance team to achieve required goals, targets and output. You will allocate proactive and reactive maintenance tasks on the manufacturing site are completed to allow continuity of production operations. It is expected that 80% of the role will be on the tools.

The Candidate:

  • Right to live and work in the UK, with ability to obtain SC level clearance (5 years British residency), if required
  • Time served apprenticeship or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical maintenance discipline
  • Experience within Electrical Maintenance or Mechanical Maintenance, essential
  • Demonstrate leadership and mentoring of a maintenance engineering team, essential
  • Demonstrate experience within an automated process environment
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics and basic machinery safety.
  • Knowledge of abrasive wheel regulations advantageous
  • CompEx Certified (electrical), advantageous but not essential
  • Proficient in MS Office

Knowledge/Experience Required:

  • 4 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance

or

  • 4 years’ experience in electrical maintenance
  • 4 years’ experience in an automated process environment
  • Experience in people management
  • Proven experience in maintenance plan execution
  • IT Skills (esp. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of hydraulics
  • Knowledge of pneumatics
  • CompEx certified
  • Understanding of machinery safety
  • Risk Assessments and Method Statements
  • ESD Precaution knowledge

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Develop and review the Maintenance plans using a variety of techniques and ‘tools’ to include PPM, RCM, TPM, Vibration Analysis, Thermal Imagery, Acoustic monitoring, oil sample analysis and FMECA.
  • Coordinate and facilitate mechanical and electrical planned maintenance tasks in line with current schedules including follow-on activities between shifts leaving clear instructions.
  • Manage a team of shift Maintenance Engineers and shift Maintenance Technicians on the shift rotation.
  • Assist with the development of training plans for Maintenance Department.
  • Collation and reporting of departmental KPIs (daily and weekly).
  • Attend to electrical and mechanical and plant breakdowns.
  • Identify spare part requirements.
  • Carry out minor project work e.g. building rewiring, new equipment installations, process and asset movements, machine upgrades, CCTV installations, energy management etc.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to assets, plant and buildings in order to achieve gains in safety, quality, productivity and reductions in cost.
  • Manage Statutory inspection programmes e.g. pressure vessels.

Shift Pattern:

The Maintenance Lead role will be worked over 4 x team shift rotation, following the Du Pont Shift pattern.
