About the Role:
Responsible for the translation of customer requirements and specifications into offline CNC programmes and fixtures, fulfilling customer quality and technical specifications in the most cost-effective manner, and in accordance with REL policies and procedures.
Produce, Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing programmes and fixtures, utilising knowledge of product design, materials, machining processes, and production equipment capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Day to Day Operations:
- Create offline programs for CNC machining centres using Autodesk (Delcam) Powermill software.
- Producing fixturing/work holding techniques to efficiently produce the components in question
- Mentor/Support shopfloor personnel by optimising methods of machining process and ensuring all relevant information is available to complete the manufacturing process
Principal Responsibilities
- Create offline programs for CNC machining centres using Autodesk (Delcam) Powermill software
- Ensure that all customer specifications and quality requirements are reviewed and understood and incorporated in all offline programs
- Ability to create 3D CAD models from customer drawings using Autodesk (Delcam) Powershape or Solidworks software.
- Define and produce drawings/set-up sheets & tooling information to aid the machining program for any relevant fixture & Tooling requirements to ensure efficient manufacture
- Monitor machining activities, identifying opportunities for improvement, waste elimination and cost reduction including SMED, 5S, VSM, Cellular manufacture, flow, and other lean manufacturing practices processes
- Consult with tooling vendors to ensure that defined tooling is optimised for the operation required
- Support the investigation and root cause analysis of external customer and internal NCRs as required
- Ensure corrective & preventive actions are incorporated into existing/ future programmes and fixturing
- Any other duties as reasonably requested by your Line Manager or a member of the Senior Management team
Qualifications, Skills and Experience (Desirable):
- Fully competent in producing offline machining programs
- Previous experience of working within a manufacturing engineering environment
- Ability to interpret complex mechanical and technical drawings
- Previous experience of using Autodesk (Delcam) Powermill
- Understand maximising fixturing including the utilisation of Zero point systems
- Excellent customer focus

- Ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively
- High level of machining knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to provide practical solutions
