The Role/What you’ll do:
- Undertake direct test and repair activities within the Product Division.
- Inspect, test and repair standby power products to ensure compliance with technical specifications
- Quality and safety standards
- Document test results and product configuration in accordance with company QUENSH system.
- Implement safe working practices at all times.
- Provide technical support to all areas of the business as required.
Main Duties:
- Ensure that product test and repairs are completed to a high level of workmanship.
- Ensure that product test and repairs are technically compliant with project specifications.
- Ensure that product test and repairs adhere to relevant quality and safety standards (eg. BS EN 60950).
- Achieve the highest levels of performance in terms of speed of work, quality and meeting deadlines.
- Oversee customer Factory Acceptance Tests, liaising with clients in a polite and professional manner.
- Make active contribution to Continuous Improvement initiatives, challenging product design, build and test processes and information workflow.
- Provide technical support to other areas of the business as required.
- Undertake additional working hours as required to ensure the Product Division output is achieved.
- Provide training and mentoring to junior members of the test department to develop skills and capability.
- Carry out equipment calibration, PAT testing and maintenance work on test equipment as required.
- Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with company health and safety procedures.
- Provide support to operations within the battery test area of the business as required.
- Provide support to the repairs section of the business as required.
- Develop and maintain good professional working relationships.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude at all times.
- Undertake site commissioning activities as required.
- Carry out other related duties as directed by the Test Supervisor.
Person Specification:
Qualifications
- HND / Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent) is essential.
- Health and safety awareness qualification is desirable.
Experience
- At least three years’ experience working in a similar technical role is essential.
- The ability to read circuit diagrams and fault find to component level is essential.
- Knowledge of battery chargers, rectifiers, inverters and uninterruptible power supplies is desirable.
