About Us
Founded in 1997, GamCare is the UK’s leading provider of information, advice, and support for anyone affected by gambling harms. We operate the National Gambling Helpline, provide treatment for anyone who is harmed by gambling, create awareness about safer gambling and treatment, and encourage an effective approach to safer gambling within the gambling industry.
The Role
Gambling harm is an increasingly international issue. This is an exciting time to join GamCare as we begin to explore ways we can support the reduction of gambling harms around the world. GamCare has received funding to look at ways it can best use its experience and expertise to support the reduction of gambling harms beyond the UK.
The ultimate goal of this initiative will be to contribute to reducing gambling harms worldwide, by understanding the many opportunities and prioritising them according to the impact they will have. This may include upskilling overseas organisations on our treatment models, convening international experts and sharing insights, developing resources and establishing international standards. As gambling harms rise on the global public health agenda, we believe our 25 years’ experience and commitment to collaboration can help other organisations to deliver great outcomes for individuals facing harm.
This is a unique opportunity for someone with a global outlook and the ability to build effective relationships, and good knowledge of health and social issues. The Project Manager role will establish and build a small team to scope the international landscape, develop an international stakeholder network, and potentially turn this into training, research, and delivery opportunities for GamCare overseas. As this is a new project, you’ll have the chance to put your own stamp on it.
About You
As the successful candidate you’ll be as part of a hybrid team. You’ll need to be curious, energetic, and able to sell new ideas to a range of internal and external stakeholders.
With demonstrable experience of managing multiple stakeholders and workstreams, you will have honed your skills turning relationships into meaningful partnerships. Experience working in the international landscape will mean you are sensitive to the needs of diverse user groups. An ability to map and quickly understand opportunities, prioritising them for GamCare’s consideration, will be essential. Reasonable knowledge (and/or the ability to learn about) various governance structures and requirements will be highly beneficial.
