Job Title: Early Years Practitioner (Level 3+)

Salary: Up to £22,000 per year (Experience Dependent)

Happy Journeys is a brand-new Nursery located in Hendon specialising in high-quality early years education for children aged 6 months to 5 years. From their first words to their first day at school, a child’s early years are an incredibly rewarding time. We have an exciting opportunity for Early Years Practitioners who are motivated and driven to join our growing team.
Purpose of the Role:
- To be a key member of the early years’ team and responsible for delivering high quality care and learning opportunities for children based on their needs and interests.
- Promote positive relationships in the early years’ setting with children, parents, staff and other professionals.
- As Nursery Practitioner promoting the health, safety and well-being of the children whilst supporting the children’s learning and play will be essential.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Act as a representative of Happy Journeys Day Nursery and the company, promoting a professional image at all times.
- Show a willingness to undertake additional roles to meet the needs of the nursery, children and colleagues.
- Keep your job knowledge up to date through company and external training, showing a commitment to professional development.
- Support the Nursery Manager and work as a team to ensure a good or better Ofsted inspection outcome.
- Check premises daily and remove or action any potential hazards.
- Reflect on daily practice and identify areas for continual improvement.
- Raise any maintenance concerns to the Nursery Manager in due course and keep an ongoing record of this.
- To ensure that you have an excellent understanding and have a working knowledge of all aspects of Health & Safety e.g. Risk Assessments, COSHH etc.
- To promote good hygiene practices in the nursery and maintain high standards of cleanliness.
- To ensure that all children are treated as individuals and that we are supporting this through our approach to planning in line with the EYFS.
- To ensure that any identified development needs are raised with the Room Leader/Management Team.
- Ensure that settling-in and transitions are well managed for all children, ensuring they are communicated to parents, carers and colleagues.
- To support the planning and implementation of activities with individual or groups of children; promoting effective teaching and learning.
- To use professional knowledge of the individual and diverse ways that children learn and develop to meet their differing needs.
Skills & Qualifications:
- NVQ level 3 or higher
- Excellent understanding of the EYFS curriculum and requirements
- Experience within the Early Years Foundation Stage
- Develop good personal relationship within the team
- Show resilience and an ability to work under pressure
- Demonstrate excellent IT skills
- Good level of literacy and numeracy
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
