Job Title: Engineering Workshop Manager
Location: Milton Keynes
Salary: £40,000 – £47,000 per annum depending on experience.
Job type: Permanent, Full time 40 hours per week – some evening and weekend work may be required

We work with some World-famous brands, the majority of which are in the Motorsport industry however, we also supply products into the Aerospace, MOD and Marine industries so as you can imagine quality is of the utmost importance. We have a specially kitted out workshop, one that you would be proud to work in which is located conveniently just on the outskirts of Milton Keynes centre. We are recruiting for lots of new team members due to huge growth within our order books.
Job Purpose:
To manage the Engineering Workshop department and all associated functions
The Job
As Engineering Workshop Manager, you will be expected to ensure the smooth running of the Engineering Workshop department and continual improvement of your area.
Main Duties:
- Ensure the Engineering Workshop schedule is on track and any issues with due date accomplishment are communicated at the earliest stage.
- Manage the performance of the team, escalating to HR where necessary.
- Liaise with suppliers to organise and order the servicing requirements of all Engineering Workshop machinery and equipment.
- Liaise with suppliers and the Purchasing department to raise any orders required for raw material, consumable, finishing and tooling needs.
- Liaise with Head of Design and the Sales team to aid in quotation of any manufactured hardware where necessary.
- Liaise with the Planning team and Cell Production Manager to determine the best course of action in the case of a cell production schedule change.
- Liaise with the Design team in any R&D tasks as required.
- Liaise with the Purchasing team and Quality Supervisor as required, to determine the requirements of our suppliers.
- Continually monitor and assess all department procedures and update as necessary.
- Carry out appraisals and monitor performance of Engineering Workshop staff.
- Responsible for the Health & Safety of all staff within the Engineering Workshop.
- Monitor all stock used within Engineering Workshop and replenish raw materials/consumables were necessary.
- Ensure all hardware is processed consistently for surface treatment.
- Use environmentally sustainable practices in accordance with our environmental policy.
- Seek ways to reduce waste and energy usage in accordance with our environmental objectives.
The Person and Skills Required:
Qualifications:
- Qualification in an engineering discipline.
Experience
- Experience working within a similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Personnel management experience.
- Experience of ISO9001 QMS.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise workload and juggle multiple tasks.
