Job Title: Purchasing Assistant
Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire
Salary: £16,000 to £18,000 pa dependent on experience.
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent (37 hours per week – Monday to Friday)

Role Overview:
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, customer focused individual to join an expanding business and be part of a dynamic and growing team. Working within a small team the role requires a proactive approach, ideally suited to an individual experienced in a manufacturing or similar environment who is already carrying out purchasing related activities or looking to step into a purchasing role which offers a real opportunity for progression. They will invest in your development, equipping you with the technical skills for the present and ensuring you have a fulfilling, long-term career.

The site is conveniently situated approximately 1 mile from the centre of Leeds with easy transport links to both the city centre and the motorway.
Main duties will include:
- Obtaining quotes, comparing prices (using purchasing procedures)
- Processing purchase orders as/when required.
- Sourcing sub-contract machining
- Sending out the Open Order Book and confirming dates in the system.
- Dealing with order acknowledgments and filing as required.
- Chasing suppliers for confirmations and expediting when required.
- Helping resolve finance queries and price discrepancies
- Placing consumable orders
Essential Requirements:
- A positive, “can-do & will do” attitude
- Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel
- Attention to detail and good communication skills
- Ability to work to contract specific deadlines and communicate confidently with suppliers as well as all internal departments
- Friendly, approachable, flexible, highly organised and have excellent communication skills
- Open to learn new skills and adapt to the company’s processes and procedures, whilst also suggesting improvements where needed.
- Proven people skills are required; ability to work with others while effectively handling internal pressures.
- Strong personal accountability with a team working ethic for timely completion of tasks
- Ideally you will have some knowledge of MRP systems but this is not essential.
