The Role:
Estates & Facilities are responsible for all the services required to make our campuses pleasant and positive places to work and study. Our services include estate development, cleaning and maintenance, environmental management and travel services, timetabling, space management, catering, conference services and residential services.
ARU has an ambitious development plan to encourage student growth over the coming years and is committed to develop the existing campuses to provide an outstanding student experience. With masterplans currently being developed, and several large projects already underway, this is an exciting time to join a busy, dynamic team.
Reporting to the Head of Projects the Project Manager you will lead projects teams to deliver estate development projects typically from £20k to £10m in value across an estate portfolio including academic and teaching facilities, social and hospitality space and specialist workspace.
You will get the chance to manage a diverse range of projects, with a significant proportion of the projects being complex redevelopments and refurbishments within live, operational environments. Key aspects of the role include brief development, design management, contract procurement and oversight of construction delivery and commissioning/handover, whilst taking lead responsibility for ensuring projects are delivered to quality, time, cost and safety expectations.
Candidate Requirements:
The successful candidate will possess relevant experience in a project management role with responsibility for the delivery complex refurbishment projects within live, operational environments. You will have strong commercial management skills, with a proven track record of contract administration and the procurement and management of consultant and contractor teams. We are seeking an individual with a highly motivated and proactive disposition and the interpersonal and communication skills to operate successfully with a diverse range of stakeholder groups.
You will be educated to degree level in a relevant construction related subject and hold (or demonstrate you are working towards) a recognised professional membership RICS, CIOB, MAPM etc.
