Founded in 1997, GamCare is the leading provider of information, advice and support for anyone affected by gambling harms. We operate the National Gambling Helpline, provide treatment for anyone who is harmed by gambling, create awareness about safer gambling and treatment, and encourage an effective approach to safer gambling within the gambling industry.

The Role

This is a great time to join GamCare as we’re looking for an Education and Training Lead to join our successful youth programme, and help engage key stakeholders, deliver training to professionals and run awareness workshops for young people in Northern Ireland.

As an Education and Training Lead you will engage key stakeholders in your region, deliver accredited training to professionals, run interactive workshops with young people, and collaborate with your colleagues to ensure the ongoing improvement and success of the programme.

You will form part of an enthusiastic team who are committed to supporting young people affected by gambling-related harm across the United Kingdom, and work with a supportive programme leadership team. You might have a basic understanding of gambling harms, but if you have the enthusiasm to learn all about it in a non-judgemental way, we would like to hear from you.

About You

Are you passionate about working with young people and reducing the impact gambling has on the community? Do you have experience of working with children or young people in an educational or youth setting? Do you want to make a difference by raising awareness of gambling-related harms with youth-facing professionals, and ensure young people are equipped to make informed choices about gambling?

If you are skilled at engaging young people or facilitating training and can build strong relationships with stakeholders to generate interest in what our programme offers, then you might be exactly who we are looking for.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mapping regional stakeholders to identify opportunities and key organisations of interest (schools, youth organisations, health and social care etc.)
  • Establishing initial contact with stakeholders to promote the programme offer, through targeted emails, phone calls, and social media
  • Identify opportunities to promote the programme message, including team meetings, open-days, conferences, and other local or regional events
  • Negotiating and scheduling training and workshops, ensuring all pre and post session information is provided and collected in a timely manner
  • Delivering interactive, engaging gambling awareness workshops to young people, ranging from small groups, to classrooms, and school assemblies
  • Providing CPD accredited training to professionals who work with young people, either face-to-face or online

Benefits You Can Enjoy

  • 33 days basic annual leave entitlement per annum (pro-rated for part-time colleagues) including bank holidays which increases with service
  • A generous Pension Scheme – we contribute 6% and you contribute 2%.
  • Discretionary company sick pay from day one of service.
  • Employee Assistance Programme – 24-hour support

Appointment is subject to Access to NI check

The role is home-based but will require travel to deliver training and workshops in the north and west regions of Northern Ireland, the occasional overnight stay and occasional travel to meetings and events in England. Travel, accommodation and meal allowances are paid for when required.
