The Company:
SMC Pneumatics is based in Milton Keynes, with a well-established 14-acre site. UK customers benefit from quicker delivery and customised product options where required because many SMC products are finished or assembled by hand in the Milton Keynes facility.
In addition to the 390 staff based in Milton Keynes, SMC also has a nationwide sales team of around 120 technically trained sales engineers.
From putting the soles on your shoes, to the tarmac they walk on; from a packet of crisps to silicon chips; from wooden toothpicks to electric cars; you’d be amazed at the things we get involved in.

The Role:
We are looking for a Design Engineer to complete projects through the entire design life cycle. This will include taking products through concept designs with prototyping and long-life testing that can be completed in SMC’s European Technical Centre, located on the Milton Keynes site. Employees in this role have the opportunity to grow a variety of skills as they are involved in much more than just design.
Key Points:
- To provide unique solutions to real-life challenges through design.
- Use problem solving skills to investigate and solve customer issues.
- Use state of the art three-dimensional engineering software to transpose new ideas from design to manufacture.
- Watch as your designs are manufactured in-house at the Milton Keynes facility and sold to be used in the real world.
- Work closely with a wide range of departments throughout the Milton Keynes facility and beyond as SMC has a huge worldwide presence.

The Selection Process:
Upon application, candidates will be asked to undertake some online testing followed by a first interview online, and lastly a second interview face-to-face, onsite at our SMC Offices.
