Job Title: Family Link Worker (Maternity Cover)
Location: Oxford
Salary: £26,245 – £29,854 per year (experience dependent).
Job type: Temporary Maternity Cover, Full Time.
The Role:

We’re looking for an individual to work alongside and in support of Family and Network Practitioners (FNP) in order to ensure that the family and network are receiving the most appropriate interventions for the needs of children and their families.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- To work closely with the treatment team in relaying information between the school and the network about the child’s placement at the school.
- To be the lead person for sending out incident reports to social workers.
- To be among those called on to liaise with networks and families when Safeguarding issues arise within the school.
- To attend meetings about children, their families and the work and to present the views of the treatment team at these meetings.
- To provide reports about on-going work to inform colleagues, meetings and reviews about children and families.
- Attending treatment team meetings on behalf of the FNP when the FNP is not available, or when it is appropriate to the work the FLW is involved in.
- To support Family & Networks Practitioners to assess families, foster carers, and wider networks in order to establish supportive interventions.
- Plan and participate in support groups for parents and carers, including family weekends and other initiatives that the team may develop
- When necessary be available occasionally outside of normal working hours to meet with families at the school, in the family home, or at other agreed venues.
Experience and Skills:
- Ability to suspend personal judgments and opinions in order to encourage reflection and decision-making in families.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to plan, evaluate, monitor and develop services.
- Contain and work with organisational stress and ‘hold’ the stress of others in a flexible and creative manner.
- Ability to work in and contribute to an environment that promotes reflective thinking and understanding
- Experience of working with foster carers and adopters.
- Evidence of maintaining the requirements of the profession – e.g. registration with professional body, CPD etc (Desirable).
- Experience of working within a residential school environment (Desirable).
- Previous professional experience of working with children and families (Desirable).
- Knowledge and understanding of psychodynamic theory (Desirable).
