Job Title: Energy Caseworker (Somali language)

Salary: £24,255-£26,654 per year pro rata for 15-18 hour a week
Job Type: Part time 15-18 hours/Week, Permanent
The Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) is a Bristol-based national charity that supports people and organisations across the UK to tackle the climate emergency and end the suffering caused by cold homes. We do this by sharing our knowledge, practical experience and policy insights.
The Role
- To provide energy and income maximisation advice to Somali speaking householders in their first language face to face, by phone and at their home.
- To provide information to help householders to access appropriate support.
- To provide administrative support to the delivery of projects.
- To provide in-depth support to householders.
- To maintain accurate and detailed records of all interactions with householders.
Responsibilities include
- Engage with local Somali households who need help with their energy issues. Depending on demand the post holder may be required to work with householders outside of the Somali community.
- Promote the Tenants Energy Advice service (council tenants) and Warmer Homes Advice & Money project (private householders) to Bristol residents from the local Somali community.
- Interpret and translate information and materials to advise and support Somali speaking clients.
- Improve the understanding and confidence of households in fuel poverty to better manage their energy use.
- Reduce the financial hardship and stress of households in fuel poverty by supporting their access to lower tariffs, grants for heating and insulation improvements and income maximisation.
- Improve the wellbeing and safeguarding of households in fuel poverty whose health conditions
Ideal Candidate
- Ability to communicate fluently both verbally and in writing in Somali.
- Experience of customer service.
- Experience of taking a lead on the delivery and coordination of project-based activity.
- Minimum Maths and English GCSE or equivalent.
- Ability to respond to vulnerable clients in a respectful and engaging manner.
- Ability to present complex information in an accessible and appropriate manner.
- Ability to work in a team and able to identify areas where their skills complement others.
