Job Title: Area Leader

Salary: £29,174.75 – £37,343.68

Barden bearings are produced using advanced technology to the highest standards available. That’s why our bearings are used in virtually every sector of industry where there is a need to meet critical tolerances, high speeds and reliable performance under the most demanding operating conditions.

We have 2 Area Leader roles:

  • 12-hour nightshift (Mon-Thurs) (£37,343.68 + 40% shift premium)
  • Alternating weekly shifts 6.30am-2.30pm / 2.30pm-10.30pm (Mon-Fri). (£29,174.75 + 25% shift premium when working back shift.)

Job Purpose

To be the responsible person in the area and shift for the safety of employees and the first line in people management. Manage all aspects of production for the shift including, but not exclusive to, H&S, manning, WIP, scrap, training, holidays and organising support functions. To support the Operations Business Unit Manager on projects.

Key Role Requirements:

  • Ensure adherence to H&S policy and procedures.
  • Organising shift manning and holiday management.
  • Absence management (including Return to Work interviews).
  • First line disciplinary issues (GD’s, investigation meetings, dealing with conflict).
  • KPI management (including scrap and WIP)
  • Maintain and improve 5S.
  • Maintain accurate skills matrix records in line with the Contribution Grading structure.
  • Liaising with support teams.
  • Support Operations Business Unit Manager.
  • Assist hands-on when needed to ensure continuity of Production.
  • Maintain and drive production quality standards at all times.
  • Cover site management on nightshift.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

  • Product and process knowledge of the relevant area.
  • Experience in all aspects of people management.
  • Knowledge of 8D/5Y process investigations desirable.
  • Good communication skills-both verbal and written.
  • Ability to use initiative.
  • Computer literate.
  • Analytical data skills and be data driven.
  • Knowledge of working with company policies and procedures.
  • Continuous improvement methodologies.
