Job type: Part Time, 18.5 hours per week – Permanent.

Location – County Hall, Norwich (With flexible working)

We are looking for an experienced Recruiter to join Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service as a Resourcing Adviser, and play a key role in delivering and continually improving all aspects of our On-Call recruitment activity.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service is an ambitious organisation that is committed to making Norfolk a safer place. We work at the heart of community safety and protection, providing a robust and resilient emergency response service and ensuring efficient support to enable delivery of our emergency response.

On-Call Firefighters are an integral part of Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service. 39 of our 42 stations have an on-call commitment, and as a result we’re constantly looking for people who live or work close to our stations to join us. That’s where this role comes in.

The core focus of this role will be to deliver all stages of the On-Call Firefighter journey. We want to ensure we’re attracting and retaining the best talent, whilst enhancing both candidate and hiring manager experience throughout the process. You’ll need to understand the challenges of recruiting On-Call Firefighters, and put in place plans to engage with both active and passive candidates, using a variety of methods and platforms to build long term, sustainable talent pools.

Day to day, you’ll work closely with colleagues across Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service to understand service needs and challenges, and will need to proactively suggest solutions, working in partnership to deliver results. You’ll engage directly with potential candidates to encourage applications and support longer term talent pipeline activity. You’ll also be involved in the end-to-end assessment and onboarding process, working closely with managers and with NCC recruitment colleagues to deliver a robust and efficient process that maintains momentum throughout. At all times you’ll focus on providing a first-class candidate experience that helps position us as an employer of choice, which in turn will help reduce time to hire and overall vacancy numbers.

To be considered for the role, you’ll need demonstrable experience working in a recruitment role, ideally with experience recruiting skills-shortage and/or hard to fill roles. We’re open to people from either agency or in-house backgrounds, but you’ll need exposure across the full recruitment lifecycle, and will be comfortable with a wide range of sourcing techniques. You’ll need strong communication and organisation skills, the ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels, and a positive and proactive approach. You’ll also need to bring ideas, and will be comfortable making suggestions and challenging where required.

We think it’s a great opportunity to undertake a role that will have a positive impact across the service, which in turn will benefit the whole county of Norfolk, so if you are interested then we would love to hear from you.

Please note this role is being offered on a part-time basis (2.5 days per week – we’re flexible in terms of working pattern) and the salary advertised has been adjusted accordingly. The full-time equivalent salary for the role is £30,984 to £32,798.

We want our people to be inspired and motivated to work well together, make the most of our workspaces, enjoy a healthy work-life balance, and deliver excellent services to Norfolk and its people. Flexibility is built into the way we work, with hybrid working a key feature for many roles. Our technology platform and equipment are first class, enabling you to connect and collaborate remotely. We ask that you have in place good Broadband connectivity.

Working for the council comes with a series of benefits, including generous holiday allowances, flexible working arrangements and Salary sacrifice scheme. Please see more on our website about the working benefits.
