The role:
This person will be responsible for promoting our core sourcing services, our bespoke products and promoting and fronting “design-in” opportunities to primarily UK based manufacturers, sub-contractors, and OEMs.
Our core business has traditionally been focused on Defence / Aerospace OEMs and their second and third tier manufactures and their suppliers. Our scope can extend to managed value added services, such cable harnessing, wire wound components, pcb’s and kitting.
Our partnered technologies and product lines of which some are exclusive with overseas and UK based principals, allow us to serve a broader cross-section of industries with a varied scope and portfolio.
As this is ostensibly a field sales role, the individual may be based anywhere within mainland UK but will be expected to visit our offices in Alton on a regular basis (at least once a week).
The Candidate:
- Technical capability and experience in liaising directly with engineers at design stage would be a distinct advantage.
- Knowledge and experience in selling component /products.
- Strong understanding of current electronic marketing methods
- Sound judgement and good business sense coupled with sales resilience and tenacity
- Capable of working alone, but also within a sales team
Primary role is to provide our customers with technical support / liaison between customer and our technology partners, with the ultimate goal of generating new customers to meet our sales targets.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Sourcing leads and cold calling potential customers
- Developing business opportunities by arranging meetings and making sales pitches
- Presenting technical plans and detailed schematics of products to customers
- Providing detailed information to show customers why a product will help their business
- Answering / fielding customer queries on technical issues
- Providing a point of communication between the customer and Account Managers or service providers
- Arranging follow-up meetings with customers to retain their business and make further sales
- Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of their industry and the products or services they sell
- Arranging sales visits (typically 3.5/4 days per week)
- Participating in the commercial assessment of potential new clients
- Producing Visit Reports for circulation within the business with clear actions
- Liaising with and, where necessary, visiting our existing principals.
- Identifying and developing potential new clients across market sectors (including defence and aerospace, medical, industrial automation, and audio) for both our core activities and partnered technologies.
- Working close with our internal Sales and commercial manager and sales team.
