Job description

We are looking for a high-quality Controls Engineer preferably in the North (eg Manchester area).

  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate with Senior site management and Control Systems Manager
  • Excellent knowledge of PLC’s, SCADA, and networking technologies and general Electrical Systems.
  • Good understanding of a structured approach to software design, Testing, Comment and Documentation.
  • Performance measurement of systems pre-work and post evaluation.
  • Knowledge of Modicon and Rockwell PLC’s, DeviceNet FieldBus Networks, iFix Scada packages, SQL Server and reporting software.
  • Support for legacy systems such as DOS and Mitsi PLC’s etc.
  • Support to Site Engineers during Breakdown situations including out of hours support.
  • To ensure continued improvement in project engineering skills through a structured development programme
  • To manage the site’s electrical standards to ensure compliance with all Statutory Electrical Legislation, Company standards, specifications and ECOPS.
  • Control of contractors to ensure H&S standards are adhered to while carrying out their duties
  • Ensuring no electrical accidents occur by acting as a champion for electrical safety on site
  • Monitor & track project spend against pre-approved budget not to exceed the agreed project spend
  • Plant performance in regard to CI activities and projected improvements

Quality

  • Identifying and documenting procedures for recovery of plant and equipment after failures
  • Delivery of projects which support & ensure the business consistently meets correct specifications of all its products
  • Ensuring all projects meet relevant Engineering procedures within ISO, NTS and BRC standards
  • Ensure that downtime is limited by identifying plant, critical systems, and spares which are required to get plants up and running after an equipment failure. This will include making sure stock of parts and the correct equipment is available to minimize breakdown repair time.
  • Identification of any training needs for the electrical craftsmen in the department.
  • Briefings to all people affected (either directly or indirectly) by projects

The Requirements For The Role Are

  • Experience of working within Projects and Maintenance
  • Experience of working within a Production environment – preferably Industrial Sites.
  • Project Management of major capital projects
  • Excellent knowledge of PLC’s, SCADA, and networking technologies and general Electrical Systems
